Marketing Your Home

The Market
When it comes time to sell your home, you might want to market your home yourself, and even if you get a real estate agent, there are things you can do to help the process along yourself and perhaps expedite the sale.
- Listing Your Property: Always lead your listing with the best features of your home, such as any newly renovated areas, aesthetics and anything unusual that will be an attention-getter. Also, make sure you include the address and list price in your listing. In other words, get that key information right up front from the beginning. Grab the potential home buyer’s attention.
- Get Good Photos: Make sure wherever you might list your property (flyers, ads, etc) get good photos of the exterior as well as the interior of the home. People want to see pictures; they want to know what they are getting! Get as many photos as you can to show off every feature of the home, rooms, special areas, and more. Don’t forget photos of the surrounding property as well. You can hire a professional photographer or take the photo yourself, but be sure you have a good camera and make the pictures look as professional as possible.
- Marketing Online: The number one place to market your home is online. Almost all home owners start their search online. You can also use social media sites such as Facebook to market your house. Create a Property Album with descriptive photos. This will help get the word out. Don’t forget a property link back to your listing.
- Curb Appeal: Once they have seen your house online, they will drive by to take a look so make sure your house has what’s called “curb appeal.” Your yard sign should have all contact information on it to make it easy for potential buiyers to get a hold of you or your agent. You can also put up a weather-proof box for flyers and other information. Make sure your yard is in top shape, remove junk, and be sure paint jobs are complete. All of this will make a potential buyer want to look further into it.
