Dressing Up Your Maryland Home For Winter Sales
It may be winter, it’s probably cold, and in many areas, there’s probably two or three feet of snow covering your front yard. That doesn’t mean you can’t dress up your home to increase your chances of making a sale. In fact, done right, winter can be a great time to sell a home in Maryland.
Start by giving the front of your home a picture postcard look. Keep the drive and paths free of snow and ice. Groom the snow covered lawns to a ski field smooth finish – be sure to remove any debris like fallen branches or tree leaves. Get out onto the road and look back at the front of your home. Does it have that postcard look? If not, keep working on it until it does.
Buyers traditionally go for a drive by before committing to a closer formal inspection. With so many homes on the market, you want yours to stand out and to stick in their memories.
On the inside, you need to make your home as homely as possible. It should be warm without being hot, and have furniture and fittings that add to that warm appeal. The inside of your home needs to look and feel safe, warm and comfortable – an appeal that will have viewers wanting to come ‘home’ to.
These touches need not cost in terms of money. They may take a few hours each week to maintain (especially the front yard), and you may need to consider new curtains or throws that will add that warm and homely touch. Consider the difference between this look and one that has an un-kept front snow covered lawn, and feels cold and alien once inside. Which would you prefer to buy?
