Staying In The Loop With Your Real Estate Agent
Whether you are a seller or buyer, your real estate agent is there to act on your behalf and to help you achieve the best possible outcome. This doesn’t always mean the best possible price since there are other variables that need to be taken into consideration. These include how quickly it takes to sell a property, for example.
What is important is that you stay in touch with your real estate agent. You don’t need to bug them every five minutes, of course, but talking to your agent on a regular basis is still important. If you reach the negotiation phase, this becomes even more important. If negotiations are reaching a sticky point, your real estate agent cannot move on until they receive instructions from you.
This is particularly true of buyers who may have several properties to choose from. Rather that wasting time on one property, advising the agent to move on to another property is both yours and the agent’s best interest – it’s also in the seller’s best interest if your agent notifies the buyer’s agent that you are no longer interested.
On that last point, it’s surprising how often a sticking point opens up once a seller realizes a potential buyer has walked away from their property and is negotiating on another property.
Staying in the loop is important for your own peace of mind. If you are up to date on all matters related to your dealings with a real estate agent, you will not be left trying to guess about where matters lie. Do real estate agents mind? They not only don’t mind, they encourage open and frequent communications – at least, the good real estate agents do.
