If you are looking to buy a home, then you may want to consider the housing fairs that pop up from time to time. Howard County in Maryland is holding their annual housing fair in early April and they provide potential buyers the opportunity to meet with lenders, builders and real estate professionals.

This is the fifth annual Howard County housing fair, however, it’s only a one day event and only runs from 10am to 2pm (April 9 2011). This provides ample opportunity for those who need to travel. If you are considering buying a home in Howard County MD, then you could make a short weekend of it. Arrive on the morning of the 9th, visit the fair, then spend that Saturday afternoon looking around the county at the homes that have caught your attention.

Howard County has not been affected by the recent financial crisis to the same extent as many other areas. They weren’t totally immune, of course, and home prices did fall, but home prices in Howard County are already showing modest increases in value and the future is looking good.  Columbia alone has over 700 homes for sale or rent (according to today’s reports). The properties are spread across the price and size range – there really is something there for everyone.

For first home buyers, visiting a housing fair like that in Howard County gives you the opportunity to learn from all the experts, in the one place. The housing fair is free, and like all fairs it includes attractions for the kids, food, and being housing related, includes a range of free housing seminars. The fair can be found at Long Reach High School, Old Dobbin Lane, Columbia MD 21045.
