Home Buying Tip – You’ve Found Your Home, Don’t Let Little Things Spoil It
They say that buying a home is one of the most stressful times that we go through. In many cases, it seems to be that we create our own stress situations. Take a young couple who are about to buy their first home. They have their mortgage (lucky them), they have negotiated a great price on the home of their choice, and everything has progressed smoothly. Even the home inspection only found little things and the seller was happy to have them fixed. All that is left is the final inspection and closing.
Why would you then create a problem with the sale because the lawn has not been cut in three weeks? It’s not a jungle yet, it just looks a little unkempt. Yet it does happen. There’s a mark on the door jamb where a piece of furniture must have rubbed up against during the moving out. These are really minor problems, problems which, after closing and the new owners have they keys, they will be responsible for anyway.
Okay, the seller could mow the lawn. But guess what – in two weeks you will have to, you can’t call the seller up and ask them come back and do it again. Likewise, when moving in, you’ll be bound to knock a wall or door as you’re moving furniture around. We all do it, and often it just needs a good wipe over and the rub mark has gone
It’s an interesting situation that many real estate agents face almost daily – buyers (or sellers) stressing over minor issues. You’ve spent weeks (or months) looking for this home, negotiating a good price, and then going through the processes required to close the sale. Why stress yourself further with minor issues. Once you close, and have the keys, you can quickly make good any minor problems – after all, isn’t that what starts to make that house your home?
