Buying a home is not a simple process. You cannot walk up to a seller, make an offer and exchange the keys for cash. At times we wish it was that simple. However, from the time you make an offer to the time you get the keys in your hot little hand could be as much as eight weeks (and longer even) – that’s a long delay from the time you decide to buy. Of course, the best way to complete the process is through a team dedicated to your cause.

Naturally, we are a little biased.  We know from experience that taking on a buyer’s real estate agent should be your first step. In fact, a good buyer’s agent can help you build the rest of your team quite quickly. So who goes into your buying team?

  1. A lender who is reputable and understands how to work with people, not against them.
  2. A  home inspection company that is professional and thorough in their approach to inspections and reporting.
  3. A pest inspection company that is interested in providing an honest report, not looking to sell their pest removal services.
  4. An insurance agent that offers competitive rates on a range of home insurance covers.
  5. A title company that is thorough and well respected.

As a team, they will help you to close the sale with the fewest possible hurdles. It goes beyond hurdles, however. They only delay the inevitable.  If you put together a team that has experience and good reputations, they may even save you money. More importantly, they won’t cost you money by making silly mistakes. That is where inexperience really hurts the home buyer.
